TLDR

Designed and built a product analytics dashboard in Power BI to measure engagement with Dolby XP, a sales enablement app, giving the team their first view into how the product was actually being used.

Context

Dolby XP was a sales enablement application designed to help enterprise stakeholders demonstrate Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos through curated content experiences. When I joined the digital team, there were no analytics in place to measure how the tool was actually being used. The product manager asked me to implement data tracking and build a dashboard that could provide visibility into product health.

Process

Because this project started from scratch, the first step was defining what we actually wanted to learn, and then determining what data we needed in order to answer those questions. I collaborated with the backend engineers for the app and with business strategists so the team could begin collecting the right data from the start.

From there I designed a behavioral tracking framework and implemented it across the product. Once data was flowing, I built the Power BI dashboard to surface insights in a format that integrated naturally with the company's Microsoft ecosystem. Because Power BI does not always make its underlying data processing logic fully transparent for every visualization, I used Python to validate the methods behind the visuals and double check that the calculations were accurate before sharing results with leadership.

Outcome

The dashboard transformed Dolby XP from a tool with no measurable usage into a product with clear performance metrics. It revealed which demo environments drove the deepest engagement, and helped the team reallocate development focus toward the experiences that delivered the most value, improving the efficiency of the product roadmap and giving leadership a concrete basis for investment decisions.
